This problem strikes every once in a while. When I want to go from page to page in a web site, or go from message to message in Eudora mail, or do anything involving the mouse, reaction time slows to a crawl; sometimes it takes 30 seconds to a minute before reacting. This is frustrating as hell. When this happens, I check Systems Performance and it shows I have 49 Megs RAM left out of 64 Megs.

As I'm typing this reaction time from my keyboard is normal, but in deleting a message in Eudora or hitting ENTER to open a message it crawls.

Any idea what I should check? I don't have another mouse to use to find out if it's strictly a mouse mechanical problem.

If you have recently updgraded your Mcafee scan engine then right click the system tray icon and deselect system scan while you are working. Leave email and download scan on.

The newest scan engine has done similar to my machine as you describe. It is now like Norton's.

If none of the above is true then ignore this post.
