when using a program, getting crash.log. How or what is causing this to happen. is there a way to troubleshoot

I'm assuming you mean a shutdown error? What exactly does the "crash log" say?

it says something like

program/vv/screen.exe

something like that, I am trying to help out someone else and thats what they told me

Contact them again to get the exact message and perhaps any details on changes made (software or hardware) to the system prior to the problem.
