I have a ASUS A7A 266 motherboard with a 1.4 ghz Athlon T-Bird. The problem I'm having is I can't seem to run the CPU at full speed. In the BIOS it says that the CPU is running at 1050 mhz. I try setting it to 1.4 and it crashes at startup. How can I fix this problem?

Your multiplier is locked at 10.5 and your FSB is set at 100MHz so your CPU will run at 1050MHz. You need to change your FSB to 133MHz to get it to run at 1400MHz. I don’t have the MOBO manual handy (I’m at work) but I think you can set a jumper that makes this MOBO “Jumper Free” and then set the FSB to 133MHz in the CMOS settings.
