Hi, about 4 days ago I reformatted my pc because of errors I couldn't fix and now I have downloaded System mechanic 4 and when I boot up before doing anything else it shows I have 0-2mb of free ram, also when I sign online (useing dail-up) my Cpu useage goes to 100% For about 5min then it goes normal , but when I sign off it goes up 100% and stays! Are there viruses, worms,or TH's, that can use ram and the Cpu this much or could it be bad ram cards!
Please help,
Greg

Doubt it's bad RAM.

Would be worth downloading Ad-Aware and/or Spybot Search & Destroy. These will find and remove spyware/malware. Update and run your virus checker.

Doubling your RAM would be worthwhile.

If you are running a bunch of applications, you might be thrashing because of not enough memory.

I will try the ad-aware option, I have had it before it work pretty good, spybot is spyware because when I had ad-aware it found spybot to be spyware, In response to Dan's reply I have everything off the start-up except system tray and scan registy (useing msconfig) so I don't see how that could be it. I have also done an online virus scan through mcafee and it found nothing. Any other ideas are welcomed, Thanks for the advice so far! Greg

Adaware justs perceives SpyBot as spyware but it is not. Give it a go.

Spybot is most certainly not spyware.

I have found that when spybot eliminates something the information in spybot's records is seen as the spyware itself by Ad-Aware.

In one instance Ad-Aware found general information I had personally collected about spyware and the only way I could shut it up was to put this info onto a floppy. Although I like Ad-Aware it appears to leave something to be desired in this respect.

I don't know anything about System mechanic, but I agree with Derek in that you ought to upgrade to 128 Meg. 64 Meg of PC100 or PC133 is cheap. Good luck.
