When I power up my home PC I have been able (after numerous tries) to determine I am getting the following message; "C:\PROGRAM FILES\......\STARTUP\TBRUN97.DOT is Corrupted" and then my mouse freezes and I can't do anything. How can I fix this?

I believe the TBRUN97.DOT is part of an OCR program that might be attached to Microsoft word. On start up the Microsoft package works in the back ground if the OCR is included and as a corrupt file, this would cause your screen to freeze. Get into safe mode, delete the Microsoft package in start up try restarting, and boot to desktop then delete this program or reinstall TBRUN97.DOT. To start your computer in safe mode press and hold the CTRL key until the Microsoft Windows 98 Start-up Menu appears. For some machines, you can use F8 instead of CTRL to bring up the Microsoft Windows 98 Start-up Menu. Enter the number for Safe mode, and then press ENTER. Tell us what happens Dave
