My brother writes a book now and then, and always sends it for me to read by e-mail attachment. He usually uses Word. But this time he used Corel Word Perfect.I downloaded it, but couldn't open it. Then he put it on a floppy. I get the message "Class not registered", and can't open it. Is there anything I can do? Is this because I don't have Corel? Thanks. I would really like to read the book!

Hi Bonnie, what word processor are u using? Word 97 , XP , 2000? And ..what version Word Perfect is your brother using ..Corel 8 or 9? I ve had problems opening some Corel 8 documents due to the different fonts Corel uses then Word. But most word processors are backwards compatible. When u open the document are u doubling clicking it or opening it up in the application( file, open , etc..) Hope he not using Corel 8.
More info and I'll see if I can helpPeace

I guess I don't have one. The only thing I have is Wordpad that came with Windows 98.
Is that the problem? I have been thinking about getting Word.
My brother says he has Corel 9.
Thanks for the help so far.
Bonnie

There's your problem ... ask your brother to save it as a different format I use corel 9 and when you go save as at the bottom you will saa a save as type the default is croel word 9 tell him to save it as "ANSI (Windows) delimited text"
ANSI (Windows) delimited text is a format that will work in notepad and wordpad.
