Hi there ..
Could someone please tell me if this is "urban myth" or a true statement,
When i burn a CD and then after completion of that task, if i take a felt marking pen
and draw a line around the perimeter (im unsure exactly where) , the cd wont be able to be copied.... but still can be read/used ?

thankyou for any assistance

I heard something to that effect. But I think it's the other way around. a parimiter line defeats the protection.

i haven't tried it.

I'd bet my last beer on a myth. C.D.'s are
read and "burned" from the center to the outside. Kind of a waist of time to put copy
protection at the end of the disk after every
thing has been copied.

Michael - why on earth don't just go ahead and try it yourself, and answer you own question?

LOL i remember this company that created an audio cd pen. If you took the green pen and traced around the edges of the cd it sounded better. The pen was $25 US and had a slot cut into the felt tip that was just big enough for a cd.

Here is the info as I recall reading:

Some music CDs are copy-protected (Sony, ie.). But if you take a marker and draw around the outside of the *original* CD, it cancels the copy protection.
