Comment:
Does anyone know how to copy files from a Laptop computer to a regular Desktop computer and vice versa directly from the hardrive? I know there has to be an easy way or else why would a Laptop and a Desktop practically have the same components except that a Laptop is smaller in size? Anybody with experience with this please help. Thank You.

There are all kinds of software for this type of thing. I would recommend just transferring over a network connection if they both have ethernet cards already. This would be the easiest most efficient way in my mind. Laptop hard drives are smalled then the hard drives included in PC's, but as far as formats go and stuf they are generally the same. There also are other solutions like pcanywhere and things like that for transferring files. i hth somewhat

You can use direct cable connection. You may need to add this feature with the Windows add/remove programs function, then Windows setup.

Bill, NIC's would definitely be the better choice, if you have them installed in each computer. If not, then Direct Cable Connection works fine but it's sloooooooow. You'll have to connect the computers with a CROSSOVER cable, not a regular (straight-thru) patch cable. You can get a parallel crossover cable at Wal-Mart for about 10 bucks.
