Hi Joel, hi everyone,Yes, you can copy from the CD into the hard disk...
... for what to do?...
- some install program will search files in the CD-drive
- the file copied from the CD will be in a "Read-Only" status so you'll have to change this!HTH
Have a good day,

"copy the entire cd in the hard drive"
Do you mean copy a cd onto the hard drive or copy the hard drive onto a CD without a cd burner? Answers to the above = Yes - No.
If you are referring to CDs such as a game cd then you need to use a program such as VirtualCD so it sees the CD as a separate drive on your hard drive.
There are free tools too such as Circle Virtual CD™.

To answer your question...copy a cd onto the hard drive..have any one tried doing that with the game"the sims"...just curious...

Copying game CD's to the hard drive is often a problem. There are some protection schemes out there that make the copy worthless. Also, some game software won't run unless its files are NOT on the hard drive (it will look for known Windows files and refuse to run if it finds them).
If you're referring to CD's other than games, then you can generally copy the contents of a CD to the hard drive without problems. If it's music CD, you're better off using a CD-Ripper program which will give you much better results (I personally use CDex for this).I always copy the Windows Installation CD to a hard drive just to make re-installing things easier.

Why do you wish to do this ?? if it is cause you dont wanna use the disc all the time ,you should be able to get a no cd crack for this

Get software like Blindwrite to make 1-to-1 images of cds (just copying files won't work). Then use virtual cd software to run the image like it's a real cd. Daemon-tools works pretty well, no cd-protection probs if you make a 1-to-1 image.

I detect some guessing about what exactly you mean. Is there any particular CD you have in mind (like the W98SE CD) or are you trying to run a CD based program from the HD instead?
With this info, hopefully, we can give a more precise answer to suit your needs.
D
