control panel won't open

This computer will not open the control panel either by going to start/programs/settings/control panel or going to my computer/control panel. When I click on control panel in either place to open it, the light comes on on the A drive and it's just bumping and bumping like it's trying to access A for some reason. To get out of this loop you have to cont-alt-delete, then you get the "blue screen", then cont-alt-del again, and the system will reboot, run scandisk, then come back. I did open my computer and right clicked on the A drive and found a setting in there where the drive was being checked on every file opening. HELP!

I'm not sure what you are referring to but try to uncheck that setting for the floppy. Try opening the control panel by using windows explorer. Search in the windows directory for explorer.exe. Something is corrupted with your desktop settings. Try running Adaware6.

Or you could try putting a floppy in the drive and see what he wants. Usually once you've done that you can solve the problem because (hopefully) you'll know what he was after and now you can close the problem program. J.

Sounds like the Klez virus.
Get the fix from Symantec or Bitdefender and run it in the Safe mode.
