ow are you attempting to connect perhaps if you haven't already try using the start-connect to- (insert name of internet connection used). aol is a tricky programme to switch from as it doesn't like being uninstalled and reinstalled so it leaves things on your pc to try and damage any other internet connections you may try and use.you need to search aol in windows search and delete EVERYTHING with anything that may seem like it is aol related and anything with "aol" in it that isnt something completely different to the actual program and its "relatives". once you have done that try again and if not perhaps deep scanning will help as spyware and other programmes will do everything to stop you from getting on the internet. maybe checking your firewall has the internet device(s) you are using under exceptions and make sure it is allowing exceptions then try again.im out of ideas now sorry but hope it works!

If you switched to Cable Modem, then your Cable Company will send someone out to configure your computer for Internet Access. You won't have to do anything but sit back and watch him/her work.

not necessarily. Since MS dumped win98, many ISP's aren't providing tech support for it anymore.

masterjuan, a cable modem uses a network connection. THis can be done via a network card or a USB cable. It will normally need a 'cable login client' as well, which should be on a CD provided by your ISP.

If you go to START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL
then double click on SYSTEM
then single click on DEVICE MANAGER up the top, have a look for a little green icon that says 'network adapters'
click the plus symbol to the left of the icon and see if you see anything that says ethernet of realtek or 10/100

If that's there, then you may just need to specify the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS server and you should be right.

If it's not there, look under other devices. If it's there, you need a driver for the netwirk card.

If ot's not in either place, you may not have a network card. In which case you may need to install USB drivers for your cable modem. If you're looking to use a usb connection on win98, then all I can say is good luck...
