Okay, I've heard you can eh "criss cross" the drivers for this modem, seeing they all got the same chipset. Well, I've got "..2.09" and I can't connect to anything above a 28,000kbs connection. Er, well, anyone know where I can get an update? (and I've tried all the Comm Strings) Or is the "WinModem Garbage" situation?

you got that right,
winmodems are a pain in the wazoo.
get a good 56k isa slot modem.
don't get one with motorola chipsets either.

I have bought a Conexant SoftK56 Data,Fax PCI Modem, which is an Internal Modem. I also downloaded the Win2000 Drivers from the internet for the same (File: r5s_w2k.zip, Version: 2.12.10). When I tried to install the Modem, the OS does not detect the Drivers properly. Can you please tell me, from where can I get the drivers for it. Also let me know, whether there are any alternate solutions or drivers available for it.

My solution was this, www.e-tech.com.tw.
Drivers DO work.

Conexant itself does not make modems, just circuits. So I noticed that my modem was actually made by E-Tech, not Conexant.

I got windows 2000 and when I came to install the drivers for the Conexant SoftK56 Data,Fax PCI Modem it wouldn't allow the .exe program to go further... If anyone can help me PLease!!!!! thanx

Thats the update for the Conexant SoftK56 Data,Fax, PCI Modem. Its for Sony Computers. But will work in Toshiba and others. Sorry guys that you have to suffer. It really is sad if companys arnt updating there drivers for Windows 2000. Because WinXp is all based on Windows 2000. Ha there going to have a lot of complaints when that comes out in 4th quarter! LOL. Anywayz that should work. HAVE FUN!!!

I have it working with winXP with the generic driver: "Generic SoftK56"

Don't know what modem I got (without taking the case off) but under WindowsXP I can only get it configured as a 'Generic Softk56' modem. It works - but it's damned slow compared to what it used to be under Win98!!

accept all the disclaimers blah blah etc, get to the drivers page, find out which of the drivers you need, download it, uninstall your old driver, install the new one. if you need help doing any of these steps go to
