I had the PE_Magistr.B virus and eradicated it, and since then have had an errror message show each time I boot up:
"Cannot find computer.exe. Make sure the path and filename are correct, and that all required libraries are availbable." What is this file, and how can I restore it, if that's possible? I have Windows 98.

Sounds like you didn't get all the virus cleaned. I don't believe computer.exe is a
valid application. Check Network Associates
web site for removal instructions.

If it was a lame virus, this was probably the virus .exe file. goto Start, Run, msconfig, locate computer.exe and uncheck it.

If Magistr does like Nimda,

Take a look at c:\Windows\System.ini especially shell=explorer.exe something.exe (you shouldn't have anything after explorer.exe... Nimda added load.exe here)

Take a look at c:\Windows\Win.ini too, especially at the load= and run= lines
