computer won't start

I am having trouble with my computer,which is windows 98,it won't start up.When I press the start button the green light on the button and the yellow light blink and makes a clicking noise,but never boots up.It is a HP. Please help.

I can tell you that you have a hardware problem, if that's any help. Would you like to have trouble shooting procedures? It involves opening the case and disconnecting things.

Did you make any software or hardware changes or even just open the case between the last time it worked OK and the first time it didn't?
