Hi guys, my computer won't start, I don't know what happened but I tried to turn it on and it asked me for my Win 98 security code (has never done this before), I entered it and then it came up with an error message saying Soundblater Midi device has been disabled, click ok to continue, which I did.

It then came up with an explorer error message saying it has performed an illegal operation and must close.

I can;t even get as far as the start menu, someone please help

Jo

Perhaps restoring a previous registry will help. Start up the computer. Before the OS starts to load, start tapping the F8 key. From the menu choose 'command prompt only'. At the prompt type scanreg/restore and enter. Choose a registry to restore with a date prior to the problem.
