I had a problem where if I booted my system it would freeze and black out I formated and reinstalled windows 98 I found after a month of virus scanning reinstalling .... that it was infact a virus called VBS_REDLOF.A. not your normal virus this is a morphing virus it attacks windows dir. it deletes them and duplicates them with its own files destroying your puter. when you run the virus scanner it becomes scanner files and can't be found by most common virus scanners.
the only way I found to get rid of it is with trend micro virus scanner an aplication called SYSCLEAN.COM you can find it at trend micro it finds it and deletes it.
If you have it good luck it is a bad one

Really !!!

Or .. Do as I do .. use linux server .. check your mails there .. and just DON'T open mails from spam mails or ppl you don't know !!!

If that's not an option .. A LEAST turn OFF the scripts stuff in your outlook .. and just delete mails from ppl you don't know .. further ... READ the info on sophos daily !!! You'll know when a bad one is coming !
