hi all after installing dun1.3 and sygate personal firewall, my computer will not start up.. says that it was not shutdown properly and trues to start but goes to safe mode and when i shut down from safe mode it still will not go right through to windows..back to start mode.. do not know what to try.. says there is an error push any kkey to restart, tried that and it goes into freeze mode.. help gemma

HI:Basically something is causing your computer not to be able to load correctly (a driver).. Its starting in safe mode because "safe mode" disables all your drivers (except the basic ones). So the only way to fix it is to find the driver that is causing the problem and remove it or disable it. The problem could be your video card, it could be a piece of software you have installed recently, it could be almost anything.. Anyhow : Boot up to Standalone Dos and type: scanreg /restore Restore the Registry to a date just before the problem started. Also you Can do the following: 1) Uninstall any Suspected Software you have installed lately From the Safe Mode 2) Remove external devices such as R/RW CD drive, USB hub and printer 3)Run msconfig and deselecting unimportant start up programmes Bon Courage..

How about posting your *real* specs?? I assume this is 95 if you're putting on DUN1.3 - - there'll be no scanreg'ing if that's the case. I would try disabling Sygate, for a start. Resist the temptation to close your request for help with semantically-null questions like “Can anyone help me?”
