Hi,
I am having a problem with my second computer. I've had it for about two years and at Christmas time, it was put in my sister's room. Now, the computer turns itself on randomly. It doesn't have a phone line connected to it, but we are on a home network. Our computers aren’t directly connected together though. We have a router for the internet. Even if my computer is off, her PC still comes on by itself. She is running 98se and I have XP Home. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go into cmos/bios setup and check the power options. Depending on your bios there may be several 'power on' options. The best thing is to disable all of them.

First let me see if you mean "computer turn on by itself" restart now and then. If this is the case the problem is in Power supply and try change by a good one.
Hope it works if not let me know and email me.
Good luck

Look for a setting on your network card for "Wake on LAN (Local Area Network)." To function, this requires a two conductor wire from the motherboard to the network. You should be able to disable this, as well as remove the cable that makes it functional.
It _may_ be plugged into a connection labeled "WOL" on the motherboard.

I think this Wake on LAN will turn on your computer any time your network card is accessed by another computer on your network.
