Well Daniel I guess you was not following the talk of the town. Yes win 98 is so unstable I would not even play Solitaire on it, well it isn't that bad, actually there is a service pack due to be released in January, I have ten computers awaiting the service pack and until then I have to downgrade, none should get Win 98 now it does not hold up under stress that is whne you load other software onto it, check to see which software is on it that isn't one of Microsoft,s

My oldest daughter's computer did the same thing; hers had NOTHING to do with the software. Her motherboard was bad. (Though it, the CPU, and the RAM were all new.) We switched motherboards, and she hasn't had any more problems with it. As for Win98, why are you waiting for the service packs? Why not just go to the update page and update? My computer has been up and running continuously with Win98 since a week after it came out, and I don't experience those kinds of crashes at all. The last time I had a software type crash was after I downloaded Active Desktop and installed it under Win95b. I had to format my drive after that crash.

I was working on win98 and suddenly the display went out. It is light but nothing else. This problem is due to what? What are the symtoms when monitor goes out?

I downloaded win98 update. Since then my pavillion 8160 works very, very slow. The mouse, work in slow motion like. I click the mouse and takes a while before it responds Help on this please!
