My computer turns on and runs, (it doesn't make any beeps though) but the monitor doesn't detect it or something. I says please check signal. The monitor works on oter compters? Everything has power and is connected correctly?

1. put a bootable floppy disk to see if there's any response

No beep and no display means you have serious problems. I hope it's under warranty.

I have similar problem; computer samples each drive and then signals with "one long followed by three short" beeps, then shuts itself down. I have recycled all the PCI cards plus trying two different AGP Cards in that port. Still wont boot-up. the monitor is fine; I've got it "piggy-backed" off my laptop computer.
I suspect the AGP circuitry on the mother board but don't know how to test for that except maybe installing a PCI graphic card in a PCI slot to see if that brings up the monitor. (??)

Check your ram, it happend to me one time when I didnt have the original ram in the computer.
