more info needed
when u say it locks up
do you get an error message
eg...Illegal operation
or do you get a blue screen?
or does it just freeze as u say with no control over the mouse etc?
when it happens have you tried pressing
ctrl-alt-delete to find out which programs arent responding?
please re-post with more info

Hi sunray,
I have similar problem as sharon has. I tried pressing ctrl-alt-del but the m/c is just frozen and u press ctrl-alt-del couple of times more it reboots. I dont even get blue screen with Illegal operation error and if that was the case I would have known its page fault or SDRAM problem. I changed the SDRAM modules but still the problem is not solved. Could u please help me?
Thanks in advance

OK guys
This is a tricky one without being there to see the problem for myself. It could be one of a thousand things causing this BUT 1 common cause of system freezes is an overheating processor. Check that your CPU fan is working (and is up too the job) and that the air outlets at the back of the pc arent blocked. You can check the CPU temperature from the BIOS.
Somewhere in there you will be able to check the CPU temperature, leave it on for a while and observe. Have you installed any software/hardware prior to this problem appearing? If it aint overheating then I think the simplest and best advice I can give you is to re-install your operating system. At least when you are up and running again with windows re-installed, then If the crashing still occurs then you can assume that you have a hardware problem.Add your applications 1 by 1 checking the stability of the machine before going on to install the next app.
Good luck with this
Let me know how you get on
Regards
sunray
