I am working on a IBM NetVista which had Windows xp on it but it got screwed up somehow, so now I am trying to install Win98 but the computer just keeps on rebooting as the install is almost done, this is also what it was doing with XP, can anyone tell me why? is it the hard drive or a Bios problem

The RAM is more likely to be faulty than the hard drive or the BIOS. There is a utility called DocMemory that you can download from www.simmetester.com that will scan the RAM for defects.

reboot problems are mostly caused by bad power supply

I had issues like that. it was a bad memory card. That and a bios setting that allowed the computer to reboot upon power failure.
