Comment:

my eighty-six year-old auntie has a talent for putting her computer into MS-DOS mode and me into a tizzy. I went to the MS-DOS folder and studied it, and I see under the 'misc' tab a lot of short-cut keys, and I suspect that her hand is resting on the alt key while she uses the space bar or the enter key, and (if I am right) this puts her computer into MS-DOS mode. Can I uncheck most of those keys, and lessen the possibility that this will happen?

None of those combinations shell to DOS. For an explanation of the short-cuts, left click on the "question mark" at the right-top corner of the box and then left-click on any of the combinations.
