My computer for some reason when you turn it on will hang at startup. The windows logo. I have booted into safe mode multiple times and deleted programs. I thought maybe mcafee was the program because that was the last thing I used. NO! I looked at the registry and I dont see anything wrong. Besides obviously doing a reinstall what do you suggest to boot my computer? I have alot of programs and files that I can't save and it would be lost if I reinstalled. I dont have a floppy drive and no burner and in safe mode I can't access the internet. Any ideas, I thought maybe look at the bootlog. What is that file called again to see what failed at startup? I have done it before but I forget what it is and how to look at it. lowsky13

Try using msconfig when the computer is up and running. (start\run\msconfig) First disable the start-up group end reboot you’re computer. If this solves the problem you no where to look. You can also check the following reg key hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run.

ok, i went into msconfig and the problem seems to be with the system.ini file. if i click on anything inside the system.ini it will not boot up. if i dont run the system.ini file it boots. i'm actually writing this from the broken machine. How do i fix my system.ini file? lowsky13
