If iam not on the internet everything works fine, its only when i got online, i ran a virus scan and deleted everything that the anti virus picked up and also did a adware and spyware scan and deleted everything that was picked up by the software but still that didnt help at all. the antivirus software that i use is Trend Micro, and the spyware and adware is ADWARE SE version, i tried installing SpyBot Search and destroy but i cant use until i update the definitions and i cant do that because everytime i try to do that the computer freezes on me.. please help me !!
Thanks...

i've got both dial up and Broadband connection with me.. and tried both and same problem happens. i'm in new zealand and my isp is ihug

You can use Spybot without updating - that just means it may miss some of the more recent pests
Might not be a malware problem, but it would be nice to rule that in or out - you could check your startups with msconfig to see if there are any suspicious entries

If you are using IE then try running the Repair. Go to Control Panel/Add-Remove and double click the Microsoft IE & Tools entry which should give you the option.

If it started acting up within the last couple of days, you could try booting to Dos standalone and doing a:
scanreg /restore
It will let you restore the Registry to the date you select. You should have the last 5 days to choose from.

Re #4 & #5
On balance I would try IE Repair first (if you are using IE). My reasoning is that scanreg /restore might bring back the nasties that you say you've removed.
If the repair doesn't fix it (or you are using some other browser) then run your various checkers once you have checked the situation after running scanreg /restore
If IE Repair reports any wrong file versions then shout back with the details and the version of IE you are using (from IE Help/About). Ignore any MS suggestions about reloading Windows - it's not necessary.
