When I try to start my computer everything seems to start like normal but when I get to the windows logo screen the computer just stops and I have to restart. At first I was able to log on in safe mode and I checked some different settings, but now that doesn't work either, although it does sometimes make it to the desktop before freezing. I also did have a message pop up a couple of times, when i could actually get on in safe mode, about my display settings, but I couldn't find anything wrong. I tried taking out my video card, ram, and disconnecting my hard drive to see if it was hardware problem, but that didn't work. I tried reinstalling windows, but I still had the same problem. The only thing I can think of is that it's a problem with windows or that it's a virus, butI'm not very good with computers, so I really have no idea what could be wrong.

Faulty video card, or RAM is a very probable cause of your problem.
There is pretty good memory testing program here. You can run in from a floppy.
As for video card, try to borrow one from someone.

Even though you've stated "butI'm not very good with computers, so I really have no idea what could be wrong", but, "in safe mode I checked some different settings" and then " I tried taking out my video card, ram, and disconnecting my hard drive to see if it was hardware problem, but that didn't work. I tried reinstalling windows, but I still had the same problem"; these are amazing feate for any novice to perform!
To add anything helpful , please share with the readers such details as the Makes and models of your Motherboard, Video card, Sound card, and Hard disk, and whether the original problem of "Computer Freeze at Windows Logo screen" began after a period of normal function or present at the outset. If there was normal function before the problem began, was there any software or hardware changes ( Install/Uninstall) preceding the problem?

Had a similar problem. This solved the problem for me: MS Knowledge Base # 150516. Link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;150516

Thanks for the link to that memory testing program. I'll try that as soon as I can. I did notice that starting in safe mode actually made it farther sometimes than just starting normally. Do you think that would be a clue that it was a memory problem or does it have nothing to do with it?
My video card is ATI RAGE FURY PRO 128 and the sound card is SOUND BLASTER LIVE. I don't know the make and model for the motherboard or hard drive, but I will try to get that posted as soon as i can. About when it happened, the day before it was fine and I hadn't had any problems with it. I'm not really sure what was done last because I wasn't the last one to use it. I'm pretty certain that nothing was installed or uninstalled though. I just left the computer on over night and when I got back the next day the screen was black and it was frozen. It all happened sort of gradually though. At first the computer would start up and then after a minute or two it would freeze until it got to this point.
I said that I tried reinstalling windows, but that was from this recovery disk that I have. Is there any way to just reinstall it from the cd in MS-DOS mode?
I did look at that MS Knowledge Base site before, but I didn't get a chance to really try anything. I just hope that it's not a virus because according to the virus section I'm pretty much screwed with the symptoms I'm having.

Since you can go farther (how much farther?) in a safe mode, it may be rather video card, then RAM. In safe mode would you be able to right click on an empty part of Desktop, click Properties, then go to Settings tab?
If so, change the video driver to a standard VGA, click Apply, then OK.
Restart in normal mode, and see if you can get to Windows.
If you want to find out more about your computer go Here, download a small file, and it will tell you almost everything about your computer.

Usually when I try to start in safe mode I get past the windows logo screen, and at first I would get to the desktop screen, but it would freeze before all of the icons were up. Now it sort of gets to the desktop but all you can see is a blue screen with safe mode in the corners. Also, if it were the video card, woudln't just disconnecting the video card and listening to the sounds the computer makes tell you if its the a video problem? I did try that but it still seemed to freeze.

Oh, I forgot to mention that when I get to that blue screen while trying to start in safe made it does freeze. I can't move my mouse or anything, so I wouldn't be able to right click and go to settings.

Are you getting into safe mode, when you applied standard VGA? Can you click on anything there, and it opens?
