computer freezes and black screen

I have a Pentium 4 1.5 Dfi MB 845 chip set which takes sdram running win 98 se Gforce 2 mx400 video
computer will freeze up if I do a controll-alt- delete I get a black screen and it will not reboot I have to turn it off by the power button.

Check your system stability by going to start/run and enter drwatson. Double-click the icon that appears next to the time and take note of any problems doc finds.

Summary: Problem found... it was the video drivers,that was messing up everything. Gateway uses ATI and nVidia cards,and they are not the best.. Anyway if you are using a Gateway and your computer freezes up ...
