Denard,

I'm having the exact same problem. I can't even run Need for Speed III which is the game it came with. I'm searching for an answer. If I find anything I'll let you know. If you find something please let me know. Thanks!

I just purchased this card and am having the same issue. I know this was a while ago, but did you find out the solution to this problem. I can't seem to find any info on the net or from 3dfx.
Thanks!!!

I have the PCI version and it does the same thing... It didn't lock up when I first got it, then after a month or so I had to go back to the Ati built into the motherboard. It's not a fun thing to go from 16mb of video ram to 1mb.

How about this.. I just put together a new k7-700, had no software installed and the VooDoo3 just put in, and it froze. How could it be a software problem then?

I have the same problem with a PII 350 after installing the PCI version. Falcon 4.0 and Gunship! both freeze within five to ten minutes. Downloaded the latest driver from 3dfx dated 1-July-2000. I have the built in ATI 3D Rage Pro disabled. Do they have any diagnostics to test the card?

We're having the same problem network wide with Dell installed Voodoo 3 AGP with Pentium III 600 processors. I've heard that there is a conflict between a certain level driver and the coppermine pentiums, but apparently this problem is more wide spread than that.

I fixed this problem by using a 1.5 inch fan to mount on the heat sink. Moreover I stuck another chipset heatsink on the back side of the processor on the board. You can install a fan on the "back fan" also. But may be you'll lose one PCI slot because of the front fan.

I was given a Voodoo 33 card this past Christmas and it was great for a whole week. Then it was all downhill from there. Now, when I run anything through the card's 3Dfx engine, it's sure to crash in 5 minutes. This is on a Cyrix MIII board running at 350mHz. Any ideas?

I had freezing problems with the voodoo 3 AGP as described above. The problem was overheating of the card, and if I installed lots of fans and removed the cover AND turned the computer sideways (so the cards were vertically oriented), the problem went away. It overheats because the card draws more power than the AGP 1.0 standards allot. I upgraded my M/B to AGP 4X and the computer/card stay cool. Now the screen disintegrates when I scroll sometimes!!! 3dFx never Again!

Same problem here. I also have a VooDoo3 3000 AGP. It would freeze up after about 10-20 min after use depending on what I was doing.(Sooner if I was running a game that would push the card). I installed it in another machine with better airflow (more Fans) and it worked fine. I have put a fan on it (lost a PCI slot) and put back it to the problem machine and it seems to be doing fine, for now..
