Comment:

I have a Penitum II Compac Presario computer with Windows 98SE. There are two PS/2 ports on it, one for my mouse and the other for my keyboard. I was trying to adjust my mouse settings one day and the computer told me to reboot.

I rebooted and as the computer is starting up, I get a message that says, "Keyboard Error". Then it says, "Press F1 to continue, Press DEL to enter SETUP". Unfortunately, the keyboard doesn't respond nor do the lights light up whenever the computer turns on. Now I can't get past this screen and into Windows.

I have tried everything that I could think of: using different keyboards, banging on the stupid keyboard, and switching PS/2 ports. I don't know what to do. Help is much apprieciated.

Make sure the KB is plugged into the correct port. They are both PS/2 ports but the KB will only work in the KB port and the mouse will only work in the mouse port.

When you tried a different KB, did it act exactly the same? Are you sure the second KB is good? If so the port or KB controller on the MB is bad.
