I've recently been having this problem -
Under Control Panel/System/Performance:
Compatibility mode paging reduces overall system performance
Drive C: Using MS-DOS compatibility mode file system
Drive D: Using MS-DOS compatibility mode file systemIn Control Panel/System/Device Manager:
Hard Disk Controllers - Primary IDE controller (single fifo)
& Secondary IDE controller (single fifo)Also (possibly related?) CD-ROM not showing under Device
Manager tab but appears to be working. I've tried looking up answers online and the most likely idea is that it is related to the new motherboard recently installed - I read about a fix which was supposed to work by editing the registry to remove the NoIDE entry, however when I did this, and restarted, the computer gave me a nice blue screen with a message telling me there was a problem, and promptly put the entry right back in again. Has anyone experienced this and might possibly know how I can fix it?

Although there is no 'foolproof' way to remove MSDOS-Compatibility Mode, these suggestions may help.
1. Virus scan your system. There are many viruses around that, if they affect your system, cause Win95 to be unable to use 32-bit device
drivers for your drives.2. If you are running OnTrack(c) or EZDisk(c) to allow your computer to recognize large hard drives, check your drive manufacturer's website for the latest update. Older versions of such software would not allow Win95 to use 32-bit drivers.
3. Check your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files found in your root directory for 16-bit drivers needed to access your media. If found, you
need to find updated 32-bit drivers.4. If you are using a newer motherboard with two IDE channels and have your hard drive(s) connected to one channel and a device such as a
CD-ROM connected to another, visit Microsoft's web site and read knowledge base article Q151911 which discusses a common problem on these systems.
