I tried to download Windows XP in my compaq and the system ended up failing, In turn, my computer is stuck in a power cycle. I keep trying to run my recovery disc but I get a prompt that states "A:\>" I'm not sure what to do at this point, can anyone help me?

I just gave this a try, but when I do it I'm asked to choose an operating system. When I choose the operating system it begins to open Windows and ends up power cycling all over again.
