Hey all.. I have a compaq machine (I know)... anyway the 60gig that was in it died so I had to replace it. I got a 40gig 'cause it was the only one in stock and I didn't want to wait for a drive to come in. I have the compaq recovery CD but when I try to boot to it I get a red screen with yellow lettering telling me to contact compaq support. Is there a reason for this? No other parts have been changed other than the hard drive.. does it go by volume label or disk size or something? I need this working as soon as possible but don't want to spend 8 hours on the phone with compaq...

You need to download a special program that adds a small partition and the bios to the hard drive. Just go to the web site and I think you can probably find it.
