How do I use the Compaq Quick Restore CD on a Compaq Presario 4716?

Rebooting with the CD in the system doesn't work. Hitting F10 at reboot is for system hardware. Any other ideas on how to get this Quick Restore CD to do it's thing?

I want to get rid of EVERYTHING on this old Compaq Presario 4716, and move it to the office.

I wish I could assist but am not familiar with compaq restore cd. However the below site which is compaq support and communities including Presario has a lot of information on all makes and models.

I used the Quick Restore CD three times, when I first got the computer. It appears that you are starting ok.Do you get the "Important Notice Window"? I have model 5204,and it has worked fine, but you will have Windows and whatever other programs which Compaq included. You said that you wanted to get rid of EVERYTHING.Do you mean really everything or everything except for Windows?

I have never used the Compaq Quick Restore CD because it was somehow lost, however I do need to. If anyone who has the Compaq Windows 98 (Original edition, not Second Edition) Restore CD could possibly e-mail me the files on it to brianhalverson@yahoo.com, I have a cd burner and I could make a new one. If this is not possible, please do not take the hassle to try because of me. If it is possible, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I lost my restore cd and I contacted our local Compaq office. They required the PC serial number and sent me out a new CD within a week.

Compaq Quick Restore Disks are free, but there must be a specific problem (software) to get them. Just ring tech support on there UK or Ireland numbers.

If a tech sees there is a problem she or he can send you out the CD's free of charge.
