I'm on a Compaq presario 1277 laptop with win98...and it seems that the onscreen diplay program has been deleted somehow (the speaker in my tray is gone also) but i can still hear sounds and etc..
i can't view my volume bars are anything like that!! how can i reinstall this?

Go to control panel/multimedia. In the lower left hand corner you will see an option next to a box that says: show speaker icon on task bar. Just check this box an click on apply. Your speaker will return to your task bar.
