Ive got a MS-Ramdrive in the my computer folder, after a reformat..never happened before after other formats. How do I fix it.
Also getting a message after the Compaq splash screen with the message Cannot load diagnostic tools, not enough extended memory. Compaq is telling me to quick restore. Is there any thing other than doing the Compaq evilness to fix this?

You probably have a line reading:
devicehigh=ramdrive.sys /E: 2048 or something just like that in your Config.sys file.Disable or remove that line, and I guess your problem is solved.
Open the Windows Explorer, in the root of your C: there you'll find the Config.sys file.
Double-click on it, when the Open with window appears select Notepad. Don't check Allways use this program...
Place rem and a space in front of the mentioned line, to disable it.
rem devicehigh=ramdrive.sys /E: 2048
Or delete the whole line. Save the changes, and reboot.Greetz from The Netherlands,
The Count

The reference to the diagnostic tools is the giveaway. You formatted away the little non-DOS partition that contains the diagnostic tools and programming that scans for PNP. I'm surprised it will reach Windows. You can go to the Compaq website with model number handy and download a file that makes floppies to correct the problem, but it must be used on a formatted, blank hard drive.
