I recently bought a new mainboard en plugged in my internal modem (compaq 33k6). Windows98 can't detect this modem. My com-ports are correctly configured. When I put an old modem in the computer. Windows can detect this modem and it works. I suspect my compaq-modem is broke. Can anyone help me?

If the modem is one of the "33.6 VSC" voice modems on a Presario model, it has proprietary lines on the card connector that only worked right in a special slot of the Compaq Mainboard.... it cannot be used without the Q motherboard.
Hope this helps.

I too have a problem with my Compaq Modem, NC3000 Series. Win98 wont detect it. Thinks it is a serial port. Ive tried it in 4 very different systems, still wont Plug & Play!
Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

I have a compaq presario 4410 with the 33.6 vsc modem. I recently formatted the hard disk and I installed win98. It recognized all except the modem. It is connected on COM", and appears as an Unkown device. I have not the drivers. Where can I get Them. How do I fix this?

Hi everyone! So you guys made the same mistake as me(buying 2200- it was black and looked cool)! Anyway I just found this site. Eventhough it says it is for uk it worked fro me (in Canada-has a menu at end of install to choose country)

Hey thanks, this driver also worked for my presario 4528. Just change country to USA.
Look at the advice compaqu gives:
http://web14.compaq.com/falco//detail.asp?FAQnum=FAQ429They should just link all service probs to this board. Serious you guys rock!
