Hello,
I'm working on a friends computer. He has a Compaq (model #) 5wv254. It originally shipped with WindowsME...and I have since formatted and put Win 98SE on it. Compaq has the modem drivers for WinME, but not for 98. My problem is that I have no idea what kind of modem is exactly in it.
If anyone happens to know what model # the modem is in this series can you please let me know? I've searched forevever and a day for it...

Well I searched 1 second and found exactly what you need. Even links to download drivers on the same page: http://www.modem-help.com/mfcs.php?mid=25&nid=6162 I googled "compaq 5wv254 specs" and this was the second result from the top.
