I am having the same problem with Windows 95 that Denise posted on 9/01/03. I'm told that HIMEM.SYS and IFSHLP.SYS and SETVER.exe are missing or corrupted. In DOS I get the same thing Denise is getting with only C> promt. No matter what I type there it comes back with "Type the name of the Command Interpreter". How do I get back to C:\> where it will accept commands? I have a Windows 95 cd, but no floppy. Can I reinstall, and if so, how?

I have downloaded both versions of Windows 95 bootdisks from bootdisk.com, put them on floppy, but cannot boot from either one. Now what do I try? It won't go past C> still.
When I try to boot from floppy it tells me "Invalid System Disk". Is there a way to just start over and reload win95 from cd?

Look for c:\windows\options\cabs\setup.exe. If it's there you may be able to reinstall off the .cab files on the hard drive.

Just had a similar situation with my comp. Ended up being HD failure, and I mean when it went, it went, didn`t have a chance to save anything, so if you have important info, you might consider saving it if you can get to it to save it. Then again that might not be your problem, hard to tell, I just know when I tried to boot up I got to OS load, and then it went straight to Command Interpreter command

I have managed to get it to take the command WIN95\SETUP.EXE, but when I try to install from the cd it tells me to insert the first disk. It also tells me that it cannot access the cab files. Is there any place I can download WIN95 to floppy disks to reinstall?
