Hello, I have a Colorado 250 MB tape backup that I would like to use, but I am unable to use Microsoft's backup provided with Windows 98 as it says "Media cannot be written to insert another media to continue" but I am using the correct media...auuggghhh... It says its backing up to "QIC-80 Parallel Port Backup Device 2" should it not say QIC-40? boy and I thought this would be an easy installation...any help is most appreciated!

Also, when I check my entire system for backup it says I have 3,225,674,208 bytes - can anyone translate that for me into MBs? Thanks thanks thanks!!!

1024 bytes = 1KB
1024 KB = 1MB
1024 MB = 1GB

So you divide that number by 1024 three times. I make it almost exactly 3GB.

If I've got this wrong there will be an army of responses to put me right LOL.

Looks good to me Derek and that would equal
3,000 MB.
A 250MB tape isn't gonna do help much. Besides, trust me, those things are not very reliable.

Hey, just spotted the 250MB capacity. In which case that might be the problem.

You have 3076MB of data.

A CDR holds 700MB. Why mess with that tape drive. The cartridges used to be expensive too. Got a few from a conner tape drive. Remember paying like $25 for them 10 years ago. Use a DVD burner to backup. Use CDR or DVDR media.

Thanks to everyone, that means about 13 tapes...ut oh and maybe 16 hours?!?! sheesh you are right, this is not gonna do me any good!!

BTW I did get it working, its doing its thing as I type this, already in tape 3 and it has rejected 4 tapes lol.

I love cheap people who don't understand that technology from 1994 is slightly (LOL) outdated.

Thanks to all, most appreciated, T
