Hi,
There is a yellow explanation mark in my Device Manager next to a Hard disk controller (Intel PIIX PCI IDE Controller (Bus Mastering not supported). The error message is Code 29, which says that the device has been disabled in the hardware. To reenable the hardware, I think I have to enable the device in the BIOS, and maybe in the CMOS settings.

I have no idea how to do this!!! (and have spent hours trying to figure it out)

I also have anotherHard disk controller that is installed properly : Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller. Do I even need that Intel PIIX PCI IDE Controller (Bus Mastering not supported)?

I wanted to use DSL, but because of this error message, and the disabled Intel PIIX... I have not been able to successfully set up the DSL.

I have both the DSL card thing and my 2800 Sportster modem in pci slots, but maybe I have them in the wrong ones...

I feel reticent about taking my computer in to a shop, because I'm afraid they might overcharge me, etc.

Can any one please help me :-)

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me,

Anne
