CMOS Setting Wrong?

I have an old computer that hasn't been used for over a year. At first I couldn't get anything to display on the screen. I fixed that, but now on boot up it tells me my CMOS settings are wrong, and the CMOS display settings are wrong. Underneath that it says to "unlock keyboard", then "press F1 for Setup". The keyboard isn't locked that I know of. I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean. Pressing F1 doesn't do anything, neither does pressing escape, or any other button while its checking the RAM. I just replaced the CMOS battery. The machine has a 333MhZ Cyrix CPU. I bought replacement parts for just about everything else. I only have the basics installed right now - video card, harddrive, cd-rom drive, 3.5" floppy, and 96MB of RAM(64MB new, 32MB old). There doesn't seem to be any way for me to get into "Setup". What's up with this old beast? Do I need a new CMOS chip?? Thanks for any help.

Older PC's had a keyboard lock on the front panel (a small silver circle) - But, I haven't seen one of them for many years.

Being that you've got a 333mhz Cyrix, I doubt you have one... But it's worth a check.

In a bad mood jerry ?

Believe what your computer says.Your key
board is locked. If you have just put this thing together make sure you didn't put your
"key board" wiring on the mother board in
backwards.Your first hint will be that your
green L.E.D. on the front of your box will
not be on.It is a 5 pin socket. If you are desperate follow the wiring back to the
key board lock( on the front of the box and
cut one wire.
