Comment:

I load up my computer and it gives me
"CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded
CMOS battery failed"
i can bypass it by press F1 or press del to enter setup
but i just recently formated thsi hard drive so when it looks for a boot disk it only reads it from the C: not the A:

There's a round silver battery, looks similar to a watch battery, except bigger (about 1/2 in. wide). It's on there, unless it fell out! (which I doubt).

I checked and there is nothing.
By the way this is an older computer that i am working on.
I found a battery on another computer we have.
But there is nothing like that on the other computer nothing that permits something round liek that to fit in the slot.

On older computers the battery is close to the power supply, soldered to the motherboard and looks like a small barrel. You can also have an outside battery module with a 2 wire plug connected to 3 pins(one is not used)close to the above mentioned barrel battery. You find a + sign and the word battery printed on the motherboard. You also find the Dallas module(it says Dallas on it):this is a small black rectangular box attached to a socket. It is a battery and time keeping unit.Take another look at this board.Good luck.

Yeah, there must be a battery there someplace unless someone removed it already. And if that's the case and you can't find it's location you may need to consult the motherboard manual.

The Dallas-type battery may have 'Onan' on it instead of 'Dallas'.
