cmos checksum bad

CPU/Ram: 648mhz, 190mb

hi,
when booting i get this error "cmos checksum bad" and sometimes "Invalid Drive A type" and then when i press F1, it says "while intialising device VXD: windows protection error"..please advice me on how i can fix this..my pc config is win98se, compaq, phoenix bios 4.0, 190MB RAM, 648MHz

check the cmos battery first, it is on the mother board. Then try loading the bios setup default setting.
