Hi, my CMOS battery died on my Asus P5S-VM motherboard. I replaced it, and when turned on the computer all I get is the processor name AMD-K6, no RAM test or loading of the IDE devices, I tried to press DEL to enter Setup, but it won’t let me in.

Reset the CMOS.

You can do this by moving a jumper usually located near the battery on the motherboard. The jumper is normally a 3 pin jumper with normal operation with the jumper on pins 1-2. You reset the CMOS by powering off the computer. Switching the jumper to pins 2-3. Leave it there for about 15 seconds and then moving it back. Power on the computer and immediately go into BIOS settings. You will have lost any changes you have made in the BIOS and will need to set them back how they were.

That should do the trick.

I can't find the CMOS clear Jumper, I dont even know if the board has one. If i do find it, whats that going to do beacause I already took the battery out for a whole night, so that should have cleared the CMOS. Here is the link for my motherboads Manual, I hope someone maybe be able to find the jumper.

You will need to find the motherboard manufacturer webpage and download the manual if you cannot easily locate the CMOS jumper.

When your battery went dead your CMOS got flushed. So, you need to reset it from the original settings from the BIOS to reset the CMOS. Moving the jumper and resetting the CMOS should take care of the problem.

Ummm.... my apolgies... I just looked up your motherboard from the link you provided.

I cannot find anywhere on the board where the jumper would be. I have no experience with this and recind my previous posts. I will, however, keep an eye on this post to see if someone has an answer.

Hopefully someone else would have the answer.

Again, I offer my humblest apologies...

Do you have your motherboard manual ?

It may be in the index , listed as Jumper settings for CMOS clear .

You then look at the pages with your board layout .
