Hi Guy’s.
I need your help again. Is there any other program other than Norton Ghost that will do a Drive to Drive copy. I want to duplicate my small hard drive and put it on the larger one I have installed. Then if anything happens to one drive, I will simply change over to the other drive.
It does not have to be Freeware, Shareware will do.

Hi SarahT,

Check out the website for the manufacture of the hard drive such as Western Digitals Data Lifeguard Tools. I have used them on many occasions to clone one drive to another.

Good Day!

Sarah, I just used xxcopy this evening to clone a HD. It worked flawlessly, & it's freeware.

One extra step is needed with some copy programs (like xxcopy). The partition of the drive has to be set active or it will not boot. Fdisk will only set the partition on the first drive active. So after the copy is done and you move the drive, you will have to boot from a floppy and use fdisk to set it active.

Mickey is correct. You also need to do fdisk /mbr, but that's all.

I am having a problem with cloning using xxcopy32 with windowsXP OS. I have rendered the first partition active nad copied MBR but when I used the copied drive and boot up I get the message that c:\windows\system32\config\system file is mssing. I tried to copy it manually under windows but I keep getting this message that it can't be copied as another application is using it although no other application is being used. Any clue as to how windowsXP drive can be clone?
