In Regedit:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentURLList

Some Utility Programs have the required feature to remove those entries automatically. Another option, if you are familiar with creating a *.reg file, you could create one that "blanks" the entries with a dbl-click.

Note of CAUTION: Fooling around in the Registry can have serious consequences, so be careful (a back-up first is recommended).

Here's one way...
Display playlist by clicking toggle button in middle of top right on win media player.
Point to slection and right click; on drop- down click on 'delete from playlist'
or left click on list item move down and hold the cntrl key while left clicking on other items, then right click and click on 'delete from play list' to delete all those that you selected.

Download the Windows Media Player Bonus Pack:

Don't know why everybody doesn't have this as lots of extras including a 'MRU' (most recently used)cleaner included in it's Power toys section.

ListZapper from PC magazine can be configured to erase Recent Files from everything that keeps a list.

Once youve set it up you can clear lists any time you want by clicking the Zapper icon.

I tried System Keeper just yesterday (found in the downloads area) and it worked just fine. It will also clear the WMP MRU list.

Window Washer is another program that has an option to clear this history, as well as the run/find/My Documents histories & many others. It's primary purpose, of course, is to delete cookies, temp internet files, clear index.dat, etc. It's not freeware, but a 30-day trial is available.
