Comment:

I am having trouble playing a downloaded AVI file. Whenever I try to load it in WMP I get the error message "Class not registered".
I have all the up-to-date codecs and have re-installed them. The file would not work in Winamp or Divx player either so I was guessing the file was corrupt. I tried divfix and video fixer (which found the corrupt bits and tried to fix them) but no luck.
Anybody got any other ideas before I delete the file and put it down to experience?

Try opening it in Media Player.

I'de just chalk it up to experience. If there is corrupt data and you can't repair it then there is no way around it.

If this is a Divx file you need to have the same codec version installed that was used to create the file.
