I need to download a chipset from acerlabs.com, the problem is that I don't know which one to download. How do I choose one? I am running Win 98, and this is to make the CD-RW work.

you need a driver not a chipset. Get the one for your specific model of computer at www.acersupport.com, at the website of your cdrom manufacturer or at microsoft.com

What you probably need to do is upgrade your firmware. This is to flash the drivers inside your CDRW. http://www.acercm.com/drivers/storage_drivers.html Go to this page and scroll down until you find your model and firmware version. Follow instructions on the page above. Print the instructions out and follow precisely. This will upgrade the firmware. At the same time you may find a need to reinstall the DOS drivers for your computer. There are instruction on this page for that also.

Elaine,
The Acerlabs.com that you refer to is a site for Chipsets, not a site for cd-rom drives.
You might want to check your manuals to see what the name brand of cd-rw you have. Just because the brand name of the computer is Acer, doesn't mean the cd-rw is an Acer as well unless it say's Acer on the front of the cd-rw.
