Please help given the problem below

Soon after entering the password at bootup,
my Toshiba laptop gives a screen which says
"We apologize for the inconvenience, but
windows did not start successfully......." When
I select the Last GOOD WORKING option or
START WINDOWS NORMALLY a blank
screen appears. When I choose "safe mode" it
lists a number drivers and ends with
windows\system32\Drivers\Mup.sys". Then it
stops.

So I tried using the Product Recovery Disk
that came with the Toshiba laptop. It goes
upto " RAMDISK image ..." with the CD-ROM
light flickering for 3-4 mins. and momentarily
flashes at the bottom of the screen "TOSHIBA
RECOVERY TOOL" and immediately there
appears the words "Please wait". After that
nothing happens.

This is the W95/W98 forum. If you are running XP as given then this would be best raised on that forum.
