I wouldn't even try, it would be to slow to even consider using. The latest I would install is 2000.

Now, if you have a friend who has recieves software through Microsoft Licensing, ask them if you can use their license to download Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs. It is based off XP embedded and will run on that easily.

Pentium 4s - The processors for the rest of us.

You need at least 512MB RAM to run XP decently, plus you should have at least a 10GB HDD. XP will run with less, but it will NOT run well. XP is almost 10 yrs old about trying a modern version of Linux instead?

Is this the correct model ?? Dell Latitudeā„¢ L400 (PP01S) PC Notebook

If so maybe Windows 2000, but Puppy Linux 5 would be more up to date, but a new learning curve.

If you maxed out the Memory to 512MB it would 'run' XP but unless you undertook some serious tweaking it would be extremely uresponsive..
